Amassing A Home StockPile For Emergency Preparedness

I am not even a little ashamed to show you that I am fully prepared for a nuclear bomb, asteroids hitting the earth or the inevitable zombie apocalypse. I have amassed a home stockpile worth probably as much as my home.

You can find just about anything in my storage room. But why would I dedicate an entire room in my house to amassing large quantities of items? One word: preparedness. I want to be fully prepared for anything and everything. I am fully convinced the zombie apocalypse is upon us and this, along with a few guns, should help me through the mass hoards of brain eaters.

Even if the end of the world doesn’t happen anytime soon I’m also prepared for other life changing situations like losing a job. Before creating a stock pile I would have feared the loss of a job. Now, I can gladly say I would have enough to live off of for the next 3 to 6 months should anything happen to my primary source of income.

My stockpile includes just about everything you can think of: paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, aluminum foil, soap, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, cereal, pasta, canned goods, condiments, drinks and of course first aid supplies like band aids aid aspirin. I imagine that if there were a world-wide disaster some of these items would be great to barter with similar to what Denzel Washington does in The Book of Eli.

Now the naysayers might judge this stockpile saying that I will never use all of it and I would disagree. I take time to write the expiration dates on everything and place those items that are expiring soonest in the front. Every month I go through all of the food and if anything is going to expire within the next 3 months that I’m not going to use, I donate it to the local food bank.

Yes, it is true that amassing a stockpile is likely going to cost you a pretty penny but it could save you money in the long run. Everyone knows that the American dollar is decreasing in value and with that comes inflation. We have seen the crushing results of inflation over the past century as gas prices have skyrocketed, people have lost their jobs and the American economy has plummeted. Buying now will save you a few dollars when the prices eventually increase for these items.

So now that my stockpile is nearly complete what will I do? I think I will start on the bomb shelter and the gun collection. Just remember that even the CDC said a zombie  apocalypse  could happen.
